| NEW Oakland Basketball Summer Podcast!!! |
|
|
Brought to you by Bryan Everson and Matt Pocket, it's the Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's basketball summer podcast!
Bryan and Matt give you your Oakland basketball fix in this brand new podcast from the WXOU studios. Your voices of Oakland basketball on WXOU Radio bring three interviews in this 90 minute podcast. First, the guys chat with Oakland head coach Greg Kampe on the night before the NBA Draft, providing an intriguing look at the world of the Draft, both as a coach trying to get his player drafted and as an assistant inside a team's war room.
Oakland Redshirt Freshman Forward Corey Petros also stops by the WXOU studio to talk about how much he's learned in his first year at Oakland, as well as his expectations for this upcoming season.
The podcast closes with Oakland Redshirt Senior Guard Reggie Hamilton, who almost certainly will be named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Reggie chats with Bryan and Matt about his "look," Chicago-style streetball, his decision to come to Oakland, and what he thinks about being mentioned in some NBA Draft circles, just a season after his teammate Keith Benson was drafted 48th overall by the Atlanta Hawks.

The guys also talk about the NCAA Tournament, and VCU's miraculous run through March Madness. Coach also reflects on the recent coaching carousel moves, with Cuonzo Martin at Tennessee, and how it affects OU's game with the Vols at the Athletics Center O'rena in a year. He also talks about former Golden Grizzly Brian Gregory's hiring at Georgia Tech as the head coach.
Coach also discusses the scheduling issue as a whole again, including the league schedule and how ESPN Bracketbusters and the contract with the Summit League leaves the Golden Grizzlies in a mid-and-late-season scheduling bind. Also, coach talks about how it all affects Senior Night.
And at the end of the show, the guys make a special presentation to Coach Kampe from WXOU and the OU Grizz Gang, in anticipation of Coach's upcoming knee surgery.

Coach Kampe and WXOU's Matt Pocket talk about Oakland's 85-81 loss to the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA Tournament, and discuss the insanity of March Madness after the first weekend.
Coach Kampe looks at the Coaching Carousel, and discusses the departure of his good friend Ron Hunter from IUPUI, who resigned the day before to take the job at Georgia State.
Coach talks about Oakland's 2011-12 schedule, setting the proverbial dynamite to the schedule he discussed a few weeks earlier. He explains which matchups may have changed and why, and how the firing of Bruce Pearl may affect Oakland's game at the O'rena.
Coach also explains the Reggie Hamilton Twitter saga, clarifying comments made through Reggie's Twitter profile that were NOT, in fact, from the Junior guard.
Kyle Roth from KNDS Radio, NDSU's student radio station, also calls in, and discusses conference strength in relation to seeding in the tournament, and how the upcoming conference shift could impact placement in The Big Dance. |
